The 48 Hour Film Project this year was fantastic, things ran a million times more smoothly now that we knew what we were doing and what to expect (sort of). There was still a little moment of confusion when my Gaffer got lost looking for my car by wandering into a different but adjacent garage to the one where we'd parked, but it was sorted out and we moved on with the day. I even managed to get a whole hour of sleep between Day 1 & 2 -which feels like a historic event worthy of celebrating due to the demands of the project.
The screening just ended and while I'm sad to say we didn't win any awards or receive any recognition this year, I had two great things happen. One, a woman came up to me and complimented me on my movie and then proceeded to ask me for the meaning behind decisions I'd made with the story and so on. Such a small thing but such a cool moment to have a stranger be interested in my project and why I'd done what I'd done. The second thing was, we may not have won, but we didn't walk away empty-handed! Upon attending the screening, I was told my name would be entered in a raffle to win a Manfrotto Tripod, and low and behold, I won! So now I have a bada$$ little tripod to add to my (unforutnately still scant) collection of film gear.
